Grant Application Process for FCC Members
Internal Grants:
Internal grants are those grants that support activities within the Church or are related solely to the functioning of the Church. Internal grants, in almost all cases, will require the support of a Board of the Church. To apply for such grants, the Board Chair should first consult with the President or Vice President of the Endowment to preview the request and determine if the request is a general fit with the Endowment and which Board might be contact to support the Grant. The requester will then send an email to the President and Vice President and Grants Chair of the Endowment with the following information:
- The amount requested.
- If the amount is requested of a specific Endowment Fund- which one and why this fund is the appropriate source of the funds.
- The use of the funds, with details as to the expected expenditures.
- An explanation of why this is something the Endowment should fund rather than being a budget item.
- If a previous grant has been received for this or a similar project, and a final grant report has not already been generated, a report on the expenditures in that grant- indicating whether they are in line with the original grant request and a brief summary of the effectiveness of the project that the grant supported.
- A statement that the request is endorsed by the Board or Church Council.
- The time frame of the activity/purpose for which the grant has been requested.
- A date by which the requesting Board or individual will provide the Endowment a final report on the use of the funds and the outcome of the event/activity.
- Identification of the person who will be available to answer any questions concerning the grant.
External Grants:
Unsolicited Grant Requests from external organization are NOT accepted. External grants are considered to organizations outside of the Church doing work in line with the ethic of FCC in which members of FCC are materially engaged.
Grants can only be recommended by Church member or a Board or Committee of the Church. Potential grantees are identified in the January-May timeframe and are reviewed by the Grant Committee of the Endowment to determine which grantees will be invited to apply. Invitations to apply, along with the application, are then sent to the identified non-profits and applications are accepted through July of each year. Once applications are received, the Grant Committee will assign review teams to each grant. The review teams will then make their recommendation to the Board of the Endowment for funding in the fall of the year, with funding occurring in the fourth quarter.
